Food

Festival du Voyageur offers a variety of traditional French-Canadian food such as pea soup, tourtière and crèpes. You should also make sure not to miss out on the poutine: a traditional Quebec dish made with fries, cheese curds and gravy. Many long-time Festival visitors also look forward to the maple taffy. This sweet treat can be found in the ‘Sugar Shack’.

Aboriginal winter trading camp

** All the activities in Voyageur Park are included in the entrance fees unless otherwise indicated.

Learn about the aboriginal communities whose contribution to the fur trade was essential to the success of the voyageurs at Fort Gibraltar and across the Northwest. Walk inside a tipi and explore the diverse and complex culture of the first inhabitants of Red River. Stories, legends and folklore will surely fascinate the young and the young at heart.

Snowshoe Trail – CANCELED!

Enjoy the great outdoors right in the middle of Winnipeg with a snowshoe adventure through Voyageur Park.  Located in a tipi right next to the aboriginal encampment, our guides will explain the historical and cultural importance of the snowshoe before taking your family on a guided journey along the Red River.  Learn of the fur trade’s contribution to arctic exploration through the story of Dr John Rae. Tours last approximately 45 minutes and equipment is provided on site. Ages 4-100 are welcome.

In addition to the popular snow slides, our wee visitors will also have the chance to participate in a host of activities, including a hill to climb, musical instruments, snow forts and much more! And all this in close proximity to the children’s tent!

 

Sleigh Rides

Embark on a horse-drawn sleigh ride along Voyageur Park! Only $3.50 for those 6 years old and up and $1.50 for those 5 years old and under.
