Year-round events and bookings

Situated on the banks of the Red River, Fort Gibraltar will take you back 200 years to the period of the voyageurs. In the summer, Fort Gibraltar is a popular Winnipeg tourist attraction, featuring a living history museum offering interactive and educational guided tours about the fur trade era. Our costumed interpreters relive the daily life of the inhabitants of the site in 1815 as you visit significant buildings in the fort such as the blacksmith shop, the winterer’s cabin and the trading post. In February, the historical venue is at the heart of the largest winter festival in Western Canada, the Festival du Voyageur.

Group tours are available year round upon request (except during the festival).

Reservations for groups of 10 or more are required and can be made by calling (204) 258-2561 or by email at [email protected].

Winnipeg weddings and receptions at Historic Fort Gibraltar

Fort Gibraltar has been a historic gathering place since 1809; make your wedding, reception or special event part of our history. We offer a beautiful setting for weddings, ceremonies and receptions that is unique, inspired and personally yours.

Our wedding and reception venue is situated on the banks of the Red River, only two minutes from Portage and Main, Fort Gibraltar’s natural beauty will take you back two hundred years to the period of the voyageurs and the fur trade era of the Northwest.

Indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies as well as receptions are made even more special with historical music and entertainment options and are highlighted by our natural, very special outdoor settings.

Beautiful tent weddings set up on our park like grounds on the banks of Winnipeg’s Red River offer one of the most picturesque settings within Winnipeg city limits.

In the past, wedding ceremonies and receptions held at Fort Gibraltar have ranged from completely historical events that take advantage of the natural setting, to absolutely elegant affairs with decorations of white tulle and lace. Most, truth be told, have ended up somewhere in between. Part of the charm of Fort Gibraltar is the ability the couple has to make the venue their own, unlike hotel ballrooms which can end up all looking the same.
